NANYANG TIMES

OBJECTIVES
Nanyang Times aims to cultivate greater citizen awareness among student readers regarding current affairs and issues of interest, encouraging student writers to actively research on issues that interest them to hone their writing, critical thinking and analytical skills.
This project also hopes to provide an avenue for students to express their thoughts and promote insightful conversation revolving around subjects out of the study curriculum.
This project is proudly brought to you as a Student Initiated Project (SIP) proposed by members of the History and Current Affairs Society Interest Group from Nanyang Junior College.
FAQ
1. Must I be a member of HACAS to write for Nanyang Times or join the Nanyang Times committee? No, you don't have to be a member! While the project was initiated by HACAS members, Nanyang Times is considered a Student-Initiated Project (SIP) that is open to the whole school to be a part of!
2. What is the difference between a contributor and a committee member? A contributor is someone who submits an article to be published on the Nanyang Times website. They are not expected to write on a regular basis and are free to contribute whatever and whenevr to their liking. On the other hand, a committee member is expected to fulfill responsibilities according to the role they have chosen. Their contributions will be recorded in the School Graduation Certificate (SGC) records accordingly.
3. Will the Nanyang Times Committee require high commitment if I decide to join? The answer is no! As this is a entirely student-run blog, we all understand the academic rigour and extracurricular commitments one face in JC life. Hence, we always strive for work to be divided equally between roles and have publication cycles that are adjusted accordingly to exam seasons. The perks of being a student-run blog is that we have the flexibility to change and adapt our schedule to best fit the capacity of our committee!
